Gardena, Calif., City Manager Named Municipal Leader of the Year

 Mitchell Lansdell, city manager of Gardena, Calif., has been named the 2007 Municipal Leader of the Year by American City and County Magazine. The magazine bestowed the honor on Lansdell for rescuing the city from financial ruin.
Lansdell received the honor during NLC’s Congress of Cities in New Orleans. He is pictured with Bill Wolpin, editorial director of American City and County Magazine, middle, and Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson, then-president of NLC.
