Across the country, mayors are stepping up and making tough decisions during the coronavirus pandemic to protect the health and welfare of their residents in cities, towns and villages.

From being some of the first leaders to issue stay at home orders, to supporting small businesses in their communities with grants and loans and protecting their most vulnerable residents.

NLC in partnership with IGNITE Cities launched On the Frontlines: Conversations with Mayors.

This project aims to raise the voice of mayors and showcase how they are responding to the novel coronavirus in their communities. From Miami to Dayton, mayors are working with their council members and other leaders in their city to adopt and implement strategies and best practices to combat COVID-19.

In our first installment video, hear from Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot on how she is slowing the spread in her city.
