The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), signed into law by President Biden on March 11, 2021, represents the first time that the federal government has provided direct aid to every municipality in the country. This historical moment is a great opportunity for local leaders to not only restore their communities but also think of new ways to serve their residents. Come hear how the next generation of local leaders are shaping this historical moment and what rebuilding communities looks like moving forward.
This event is hosted by the National League of Cities (NLC) Young Municipal Leaders Network. The Young Municipal Leaders (YML) group is dedicated to helping municipal leaders and staff tackle the leadership challenges of today and tomorrow. YML is open to elected officials and city staff 18-40 years old, YML recognizes that the next generation of leaders will face challenges unique to them and their peers. By building an engaged community, we can develop solutions from city leader to city leader that span the country and improve residents’ way of life. YML creates a forum to share best practices and also brings together city leaders past and present to bridge the cultural and generational gap in municipalities.
