Given the rise in anti-LGBTQ legislation at state and other levels, local leaders are again at the forefront of providing affirming resources and legal protections to their residents. This is not a new role for municipalities, as many pioneering legal wins for the LGBTQ+ community from the past half-century or so have occurred in city halls.
As LGBTQ+ municipal leaders and their allies, both in-office and in the community, prepare for states preempting city protections, laws that deny LGBTQ+ existence and access to services, and other challenges to the community, plans to respond must be set up. Featuring former mayor of Tempe, AZ, Neil Giuliano, join us on Monday, June 27, 2022, at 4:00 pm ET to discuss how local leaders can best prepare your community for anti-LGBTQ legislation and attacks.
This LGBTQ+ Local Officials membership meeting is open to NLC members and allies.
Speakers Include:
- Neil Giuliano, former mayor, Tempe, AZ
- Patty Sheehan, Commissioner, Orlando, FL
- Jalen McKee-Rodriguez, Councilmember, San Antonio, TX
