The term “credible messenger” has many meanings and roles in creating public safety, both including and beyond the concept of violence interrupters. In collaboration with John Jay College of Criminal Justice, the National League of Cities’ Reimagining Public Safety Task Force hosted a conversation to provide local leaders and other public safety stakeholders with information on:
- Creating the infrastructure for credible messengers
- The varied essential roles of credible messengers
- Funding, professionalizing and prioritizing the work of credible messengers
- Utilization of American Rescue Plan Act relief funding to support the work of credible messengers.
