A Summit to Envision Our Cities Futures with Today’s Leading Mayors on Housing
Mayor Muriel Bowser of Washington, DC and the National League of Cities (NLC) invite you to join us for a critical conversation on the state of housing supply in America’s cities.
Mayors and housing policy experts in attendance will be part of a national conversation on housing supply and the urgent housing challenges facing local leaders. The Summit will also be an opportunity to educate and inform incoming White House and Congressional leaders soon after the 2024 Election.
In cities and towns across the nation, the housing supply crisis has overwhelmed the production potential of conventional policies and practices in housing development and preservation. Due to this, the negative impacts of the nation’s shortage of housing supply are spreading more broadly throughout the economy. During the summit, mayors and city leaders will be asked not only how they are tackling their local housing challenges, but why they are doing it, what it means for the future of their city.
At the same time, the nation’s housing supply needs are bigger than local government.
- Can the partnership between federal and local levels of government be improved?
- What’s possible with greater federal focus on housing and federal resources for cities that could follow?
By raising these questions, the Summit will also convey our message to the White House and Congress that the moment for housing is now.
Be part of this timely discussion with mayors and other city leaders, housing leaders in policy and the private sector, and decision-makers at the federal level centered on housing production, preservation and supply.
