National League of Cities Statement on Passing of San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee

WASHINGTON — December 12, 2017 — Ed Lee, the first Asian American mayor of San Francisco, passed away early this morning. National League of Cities (NLC) constituency group Asian Pacific American Municipal Officials (APAMO) President Polly Low, mayor of Rosemead, California, released the following statement:

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Mayor Ed Lee. As the first Asian American mayor of San Francisco, Mayor Lee was a pioneer and role model for many young Americans. From his service as a civil rights lawyer to his dedication to serving his constituents, his life will stand as a model of conviction and compassion among leaders.
