WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, National League of Cities (NLC) CEO and Executive Director Clarence E. Anthony issued the following statement urging action to prevent a national rail shutdown.
“From the smallest towns to the largest cities, communities across our nation rely on rail to keep our economy moving. The National League of Cities (NLC) appreciates the leadership of President Biden, Secretary Walsh and Secretary Buttigieg to encourage America’s railroads and labor unions to negotiate in earnest and avoid the unnecessary political brinksmanship that is far too common in Washington and creates ripples of economic consequences across the country,” said Clarence E. Anthony, NLC CEO and Executive Director. “America’s cities, towns and villages encourage all factions to reach a solid deal in advance of the December 9th deadline that keeps America’s trains and rail workers moving safely across the country.”
