National League of Cities (NLC) Centennial Roadshow Tours Palm Beach County

NLC Executive Director/CEO & Former South Bay Mayor Clarence E. Anthony honored to showcase Palm Beach County local governments 

The National League of Cities (NLC) is excited to announce the next leg of its Centennial Roadshow: 100 Years, 100 Cities, celebrating the diversity, resilience and transformation of America’s local communities. After a century of dedicated service to cities, towns and villages across the nation, NLC has embarked on this journey to visit 100 cities, commemorating its centennial milestone.  

“I could not be more excited to bring the National League of Cities roadshow to Palm Beach County and specifically my hometown of South Bay,” said National League of Cities CEO and Executive Director Clarence E. Anthony. “Our roadshow is celebrating the communities and local leaders that create the character of America. It is an honor for me to be kicking off our Southern roadshow tour where my career in public service began as mayor in 1984.” 

The NLC Centennial Roadshow will be visiting cities, towns and villages in Palm Beach County on May 20 and 21:

  • South Bay, FL 
  • Belle Glade, FL 
  • Wellington, FL 
  • Royal Palm Beach, FL 
  • West Palm Beach, FL 
  • Lake Park, FL 
  • Riviera Beach, FL 

Each stop of the roadshow features unique stories and experiences from municipalities across the nation, showcasing the remarkable achievements and contributions of local governments. 

About Clarence Anthony 

Clarence E. Anthony is CEO and Executive Director of the National League of Cities (NLC), the largest and oldest organization representing America’s cities, towns and villages and their leaders. Under his leadership, NLC helped deliver billions of dollars in direct federal relief through the CARES Act and the historic American Rescue Plan Act to help support local governments’ response, recovery and rebuilding from the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, NLC also ushered in the passage of the Infrastructure Invest and Jobs Act, delivering transformative investments in transportation, broadband, and water to communities across the country. 

Mr. Anthony began his career in public service as mayor of South Bay, Florida, for 24 years. Mr. Anthony has served as president of the Florida League of Cities and the National League of Cities. He was part of the founding group of Palm Beach County Black Elected Officials and the tourism development board, Discover Palm Beach County. Following his time in office, Mr. Anthony represented local governments on the world stage as founding treasurer and interim manager of United Cities and Local Governments. He later founded Anthony Government Solutions, a firm focused on strategic visioning, policy development and management restructuring for government and private sector organizations.
