Washington, D.C. – Following a projected victory in the 2024 presidential election, NLC President, Mayor David Sander of Rancho Cordova, CA, issued the following statement:

“The National League of Cities congratulates Donald Trump as the winner of the 2024 Presidential Election. NLC and local leaders from across the country look forward to working with President-Elect Trump and his transition team to ensure cities, towns and villages have a seat at the federal decision-making table—including appointing local officials to key administration positions.

Good governance starts at the local level. We look forward to partnering with President-Elect Trump to continue strengthening our work with the federal government, especially as it relates to direct funding for infrastructure projects, growing our local economies, and other key priorities for cities, towns and villages of all sizes. Throughout this election, NLC’s Presidential Election Task Force has worked with both parties to prioritize issues that help local leaders deliver for their residents.

On behalf of local leaders throughout the country, I also want to express my gratitude to the local election officials and volunteers who worked hard to carry out this election. Our nation thanks you for facilitating this fundamental aspect of our democracy.”
