Cities in Action: Leveraging Knowledge of Property Conditions for Neighborhood Advancement
Problem: Substandard housing is a known barrier to community cohesion and neighborhood stability. In Jamestown, New York, this barrier adversely affects both residents’ economic opportunities and quality of life.
Solution: ESRI leveraged the Neighborhood Stabilization Solution components to perform property surveys, track blight and engage with citizens about community cohesion.
Outcome: Early in 2023, city staff will survey photo arrays, grade property conditions, and build the statistics that feed a status dashboard, allowing for more citizen engagement on neighborhood stabilization.
