Access to healthy food remains a critical need for many postsecondary students as they navigate their education during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a vital federal benefit available to those in need, but fully leveraging these resources can be complex for students, and for the city leaders and postsecondary institutions seeking to support them.
On September 3, 2020, NLC engaged Food Research Action Center Legal Director Ellen Vollinger, a national expert on SNAP, to guide cohort cities on steps to take to help students utilize SNAP to the fullest. This webinar also featured discussions on SNAP outreach, connecting SNAP-eligible students to benefits, determining eligibility, partnering with food service providers to accept SNAP, using EBT services, navigating data sources, and more.
Webinar begins at 1:00 minute mark.
