Improving Municipal Service Delivery Through Diverse and Equitable Hiring
New research by the National League of Cities finds that Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) communities are, on average, underrepresented by 7 percent in the local government workforce. 61 percent of counties in NLC’s sample underrepresent BIPOC communities or have a lower percentage of BIPOC employees as part of the local government workforce than compared to the population of the county.
